i don't like to watch the news.
as i usually get world news from my BBC ticker on the computer.
and the news is depressing, and i always feel completely useless as to what is going on.
but how can you not feel a need to help the people from haiti who have been devastated by this earthquake?
all i can do is pray for them, and i know that that is powerful and important.
but it is nice to know you can help out even more just from texting. even i text now! (moment of silence)
so today, whip out those phones and text "haiti" to #"90999" and a donation of $10 will be given to the Red Cross and charged to your cell phone bill.
see? that was easy and extremely helpful.

truely heartbreaking. thanks for the tip.
If everyone who can afford a cell phone would just pick it up and give $10, what a profound difference it would make.
Read an editorial from a nurse who works in the ER and over the years she said that she found that many of us tend to find reasons why others have trials- trials that we don't have.
Some comments to them are callused: you eat wrong, you didn't exercise, it wasn't built correctly, you stressed too much. The hurtful comments, whether spoken or thought, are a protection she feels because we can
t allow ourselves to realize that the tragedy could happen to us.
Our comments indicate our desperate subconcious attempt to protect ourselves from thinking the unthinkable.
With Haiti, once I processed the reality of the devastation, I began to seriously realize that something of a similar nature could happen and might very well happen to myself or my loved ones-- and we are Christians! Can't believe that comment.
Bad things happen to good people.
We are all in this together.
Hopefully this tragedy will help to pull us together more tightly.
Thank you Annie. I just sent $10
The good news. "Because of high volume it may take up to 48 hours to process it". See, we all do care.
The website for the Humanitarian arm of the LDS Church also has a place to send donations. You can even sign up for a monthly donation.
