1000th Post (my red door and a giveaway!!!!)
i finally took the plunge and painted my front door. i wasn't necessarily in love with my door to begin with (i'm trying to find a nice way to say it was not my style) so i don't know why it took me so long to do it. i finally got the guts, drove to the hardware store and walked into the paint isle. i was planning on plain black, because we hope to sell the door in a yard sale when we, eventually, before the end of the century, buy our dream door. and black is safe. black is normal. but then the bright cherry red can was calling my name, and i did it. i bought it, and for $9.99 i painted the door, except i only used 1/4 of the can. so essentially, this awesome change cost me $3! it's fabulous, i love it, and i can live with this door a little (maybe even a lot) longer. now i just need to paint the trim and install more flashing, because i'm tired of looking like ghetto porch lady. *ps* my flowers are so happy right now!
wait, what's that? didn't i mention a giveaway? why, yes i did.
i've never done one, so i thought the 1,000th post would be appropriate to do it.
leave your name, and a reason why you read my blog in the comment section and a randomly selected winner will be announced on Monday, April 16th!
you will receive a care package from our home to yours with a few of our favorite things inside.
how mysterious and exciting!
*i'm just realizing that it's going to be really embarrassing if no one comments on this and i have to send a care package to my mom. ha!

So I dated a guy once that told me if you want to increase your curb appeal, paint your door red. I guess that means you have really good instincts when it comes to door colors.
And I read your blog because of your writing. Maybe it's because we were both English majors, but I just really love your style. (Congratulations on your 1000th post by the way!)
I read your blog because I LOVE the way you write. Real, blunt, honest, and fun! Hope I win, what a fun giveaway! P.S. I have always wanted a red door! It looks amazing! :) - Lara
I love your blog!!! I read it because it's real. It's the perfect blend of honest, messy and crazy with the picture perfect family. Not to mention, I just love pictures of your adorable kids and all your around-the-house projects. Keep the posts coming!!!
Can you come paint my door?
I love reading your blog beacuse I could pretty much cut and paste it to mine!!!You know poopy diapers, dirty dishes, crazy little girl drama! It's all good, someday we are going to look back and miss this stage of our lives put for now I will just go do ANOTHER load of laundry!
I read because you make me feel normal!
I love you Annie! I love your family and I love the way you write. You are so real, it's amazing. Things aren't always perfect. Things aren't always wonderful. But you always find the good in bad situations. I read your blog to keep up with you, your life and make me happy.
Love your former ballerina/beehive/achievement day girl, Megan :)
I started reading your blog because I like the title and I enjoy your writing.
Annie! I love you, your family and your blog!
I started reading your blog because I missed seeing your family here in Provo and hearing all of your exciting stories in Young Womens!
I love the way that you write as well. You are honest and understanding and your not afraid to be yourself and to talk about the gospel. I also appreciate the insights of how to raise kids, work with a husband, and to live life to the fullest!
Your the best!
-Kaytlyn M
I read you cause i like to see what the crazy family down the street is up to!!!
That and i love the way you write!
You are a great writer. I think about stuff you've said on your blog and it doesn't matter what I'm doing I will start laughing. I always think about the post of a little drawing that read "why does my mom hate me" haha.
You do a good job of putting normal emotios into words. I always think that is exactly how I feel!!
-Candi Kidd
p.s. My maiden name is Lewis, my older sisters went to school with you. Ginny and Kori
LOL! That's why I read your blog. You have always made me laughand can bring a smile to my face. You are a dear friend even if we are so far away. I love the door.
I don't remember where I found you, but I've been following you for a while...and we were pregnant "together" this last time LOL...I love the way that you can put into words the things that mean the most to you and share them with us...
Sadly, I haven't read your blog before because I didn't know it existed. Now that I have found it however, I'm definitely going to.
That probably doesn't count as an entry to your giveaway, but that's ok =0).
Love the door...wish a red door would go with our not so lovely yellow stucko =0P.
I LOVE the red door!! I painted mine last spring a similar color and I would love to walk up to it even though I have a garage!!
I read your blog cuz your life seems more exciting than mine!! :)
I read your blog because you're sassy, and honest, and lovely, and I soooo can relate! I feel like I haven't seen you in a million years! Let's get the kiddos together so they can play, and most importantly, we all can chat!
PS I think you've inspired me to painty front door even if no one really sees it
You are by far one of my favorite blogs!! I love that you don't sugar coat things yet still seem to have such a charming life! Your family is beautiful and so are you! YOu really are an excellent writer!
I used to read your blog because I was creepy and stalkerish like that.
Now you are my friend and I read your blog because I like you (and you're funny and make motherhood glamorous yet real at the same time)
I read your blog because you write the things I think but never get around to writing about. You are very real, and very loveable and inspiring. (I don't mean any of that in a creepy way, just a sincere friend kind of way, in case you are wondering.)
I love your blog because you say all of the things everyone else is always thinking about parenting and being a housewife and you let everyone know you are not perfect. It makes me realize I don't have to be either and that everyone that you think has it together is probably going crazy!!!
You're mom came up to Reno for a weekend when I was there too, for my grandpa's funeral. She told me how you were doing and told me to check out your blog. I'm very glad I did, b/c not only do I feel like I've caught up with my long, los tfriend, but you've prepped me into the amazing and often times overwhelming adventure known as motherhood. I hear your fun, cute, and real personality through your writing and I feel like we chatting over the phone.
**Plus, when reading older posts on your blog, I found that you had blogged about me on my birthday, St. Patrick's Day!
Love you lots, Annie. :)
your mom, not you're mom! that's my pet peeve and I've committed it!!
I have a red door too! Yours looks great. I love the honesty of your blog. You do a great job keeping it real without getting nasty.
I read your blog because I miss you and your fabulous family! It's fun to read and it keeps me updated on your life and the funny things your wonderful kiddos do! And I kinda feel like you are preparing me for the future. haha
Congrats on 1000 posts :) I can't wait to read the next thousand, and hopefully have some in-person visits in there, too!
I read your blog because I'm lousy at picking up the phone or sending emails, so creeping on your blog helps me feel like I'm keeping in touch. :)
I love your honesty in your posts! I like reading about how you juggle everything!
A giveaway! This IS mysterious and exciting!
I read your blog religiously. Seriously. I am in love with your writing--it is always interesting, witty, and refreshingly honest. And I just really like you lots. And your kids are adorable and I want to steal them. I could go on and on...
Well...I should be sleeping right now but instead I'm reading your blog... I read your blog for a few reasons:
1. It's all so beautifuly and honestly put. I feel normal and feel like you can relate to the way I feel or vice versa!
2. You're a great writer and I dream about being a good writer and maybe writing about a book before I die...don't know that anyone will want to read about complaining and diaper changing though! ha
3. I often read your blog at exactly the time I need an inspiration/motivation (i.e. your "we go to church" was SO for me that day!)
4. I often feel like I need a really good, more personal friend and in a weird way, I feel like becuase I read your blog, I have a good friend in you! haha
Hey! Hey! Miss Annie! I could go on and on with all the reasons that I read your blog; you make us laugh with your honesty in telling your day to day happenings. We love that you have invited us to peek into your home & your life. About now I'm wishing I had a ounce of your writing ablities to get my point across. You are my hero, because you do tell how it is & without sugar coatings the happenings and because you painted your door red! I love it! also, the girls in the office would love to meet you & your family! take care love ya hatty
Phoebe! That girl is a star.
I first found your blog through your birth story on DesignMom and recognized you from my childhood ward. Then I continued reading out of curiosity and probably procrastination from something important. Now I check in regularly because as a woman on the brink of motherhood, I appreciate your candor and humor. When I read your posts I come away with the feeling that even though not everyday will be perfection, everything will be ok.
Keep writing!
I read your blog because I know you and I enjoy reading it. By the way I love your door. I have wanted to paint my front door for ever and never have done it.
